Fits older instruments exactly. This plate is crucial to the vintage Tele sound; being steel, and due to the close proximity to the iron alloy pole pieces, it intensifies and broadens the magnetic field around the strings. Additionally, the plate provides shielding against hum (as does the rather impractical "ashtray" bridge cover...). The thin copper coating was applied to the steel plate make ground connection soldering easier. Please note that the plate requires some light scuffing of the oxidation on the surface prior to final soldering. You should also put a very thin and narrow piece of masking tape over the magnets where they are flush with he bottom of the coil form. I further recommend carefully flowing a thin layer of wax on both the bottom of the coil form and the surface of the copper plate to reduce feedback. You can 'weld' the pickup and copper plate together with a hair drier or other medium heat gun. Brand New.
